The only Maxis "prefab" that I could find was the Diamond Interchange. I recommend the latter, if you're unfamiliar with all the stuff that NAM32 installs, like I was.

So, in order to avoid overwriting these Maxis tools, if you want to keep them, you can select their checkbox on the Custom install of Nam32 or you can just choose the "Complete Install" and it won't overwrite them. That was what a Custom Install was designed to do, partly. As a result, NAM32 and RWH overwrote my Maxis interchanges, by design. I had originally chosen a Custom Installation to see what all the mods where that NAM added and to see what my options were, thinking that the preselected components would be the same that are present in the "Complete" installation. I discovered that choosing a "Custom Installation" for NAM32 will, by defautl, overwrite your Maxis interchanges and may also not give you some of the tools that you see people using online unless you know what to check and fill in the checkbox on the massive list. Instead of uninstalling anything, is there something I could add?Īre there plugins/mods out there with "pre-built" highway interchanges (cloverleafs, t-junctions,etc.) that are compatible with the new RHW in NAM32? I know that the latest RHW version is supposed to be very different from previous iterations, but if there are legacy pre-built interchanges, would they be likely to work with the newer version? (I don't even know what portions of it I should uninstall.) Sadly, it seems that it's either "all or nothing" and if I install RHW, I just won't be able to have access to the vanilla puzzle pieces.īut, I really want some sort of quick-fix for this, without having to uninstall all of the RWH mod.

But, I want something that is easier to use, right now, until I'm ready to tackle a full RHW mod interchange. How can I get them back? I don't mind having the functionality of some of the RHW mod's tools. (pre-built interchanges and such) But, I can't find them in my list, so unless they were moved, it does overwrite/remove them. I read that the Rural Highway Mod does not overwrite the vanilla Maxis highway tools. And, for the starter puzzle pieces they give you, they're huge! Before, I could just pick a puzzle-piece out from Maxis's sets and be done with it. I spent hours, last night, trying to get a simple interchange built on flat ground. I can't stand the fact that it has changed the focus of my gameplay.

While it is very flexible and truly does provide one with a lot of tools, the fact is that, for a new user, it turns a game about city-management into "let's build roads!" Yeah, for those of you how know the Rural Highway Mod included in NAM these days, there is nothing "quick" or "easy" about it. So, eager to get started with NAM's new features, I began connecting my first region to a neighbor and looked forward to getting some interchanges done, quickly and easily!

It made a huge difference! Suddenly, Sims somehow knew where there jobs where and how to get to them! They actually started using the roads I built! There were even less car crashes! (Though, I love the sound of a good car crash in SimCity 4 and, if I'm lucky enough to witness it, the fires and sparks are really entertaining.) After familiarizing myself with vanilla SimCity 4, I installed NAM. So, I was having a lot of fun with vanilla SimCity 4, but I knew it needed what NAM mod offers in order to reach its potential.
